Main Cause for HDD Failure
The main causes of hard drive failure on NBT and NBT Evo:
- Like any mechanism, it has its own service life or working hours. As in a regular usb-drive (flash drive) from frequent overwrites, bad sectors appear on it, which subsequently prevent the hard drive from booting.
- Vibration During operation, the car experiences constant loads, incl. on the quality of the road surface, which negatively affects the operation of the component.
- Mechanical damage
- Consequences of dry cleaning and incorrect washing of the car interior. Recently, this is the most common reason.
Signs & Basic info
Signs of a Defective Hard Drive:
- Navigation Issues: If your navigation system is endlessly loading when you try to access it, this is a strong indicator of hard drive problems.
- Bluetooth Connectivity: Failing to connect to your phone via Bluetooth for music streaming is another sign that your hard drive may have issues.
- CD Drive Failure: If your CD drive is unresponsive, it could be linked to hard drive issues.
- Software Updates: If software updates for the head unit consistently end with errors, it can eventually lead to a complete failure of the entire multimedia systems
- USB Stick: Not working anymore.
Install Steps & Basic Info:
- The process typically begins with physically replacing the old HDD with a new one, which can be a standard HDD or a faster Solid-State Drive (SSD), with a recommended capacity of at least 200GB (we recommend Toshiba). The new drive must then be initialized to work with the NBT/NBT EVO system.
